With the exception of five states — Alaska, Delaware, Montana, New Hampshire and Oregon, all others add a sales tax to your Internet purchase. Remember when the Internet was a tax-free zone? Sink in the hook, Capt. Ahab!

If you buy an item tax free, you have to report it in your state and/or federal tax return. I am surprised daily as I research, I find different things I never knew. I read about a man who tested the Internet on a challenge. He needed a washing machine for his mother. He did find it easily at Sears Online. He had a new washing machine delivered to his mothers house. Can you buy everything including a kitchen sink on line? Try it out!
